Hilary Farr readies for off-screen debut

HGTV designer celeb Hilary Farr is underway in her off-screen efforts to expand her brand into the home furnishings arena.

After several months of research, the star of “Love It or List It” has partnered with five licensees to create the Hilary Farr Designs Collection for the home. She is working with licensing agency All American Licensing to build her home collection.

The launch is set for October during High Point Market.

The licensees are:

  • Braxton Culler Inc. for indoor and outdoor furniture, including living, dining, and bed room and patio furniture
  • Covington Fabric + Design for upholstery fabrics
  • Grandview Gallery for lighting
  • AB Home Inc. for room décor and accessories
  • Kaleen Rugs for area rugs, both indoor and outdoor qualities

“We are excited to partner with these brands,” Farr told Furntiure Today. “They are great anchors to getting our brand and designs out in the marketplace. I am already working closely with them to have the first line ready for October market.”

Kaleen Senior Vice President Blake Dennard said, “The main reason we are very interested in working with Hilary is her willingness to work on the product with us, directly.

“She is very hands-on as far as what we are going to make for the collection. She understands her customer, and she gets the color sense of the equation and what [her customer] is looking for, pattern-wise. We were looking for a real partnership, and we have found that with Hilary.”

Farr said that for this new endeavor, she is “digging deeper to reveal another layer” of her Hilary Farr Designs interior decorating and design firm.

“I’m taking my design imprint to the next level,” she explained.

That includes home textiles “that have a sense of vintage but are reimagined for today.”

And looks drawn from nature “because that is what inspires me, truly.”

Farr continued: “I am an outdoor person. I love all the flora and fauna. I haven’t met an animal I didn’t like, including creepy crawlies.”

Geometrics will also be represented as well an updated chinoiserie looks across the collection’s portfolio of designs.

“My collection will be about what speaks to me personally and what I love,” Farr said. “It will be something more personal and from what I see resonates with my clients. The collection will present a softer, gentler way of looking at your home.”

Orian Rugs is gearing up for the debut of its first area rug collection developed with a designer partner.Home décor and bedding designer Jennifer Adams has joined forces with the domestic area rug manufacturer for a new licensed collection of rugs tailor-made to coordinate with her lifestyle brand.

The initial offering is a 32-mm, super-soft collection made of space-dyed polyester fiber. It comes in 20 designers inspired by Adams’ signature Southern California style.
